Iridescent, yet dull
Cozy, yet tight
These are the words I use to describe my home
I’m not one to complain
I’ll take what I’m given
And frankly, it’s not much
I don’t make a sound
Not even a peep
If I do, she’ll be sure to hear it
I await in the dark
For a bite to eat
For a pillow to lay my head on
As the time passes by
I’ll dream of sunny skies
And beach days with ice cream and sunscreen
I reminisce of my mother’s perfume
The sweet smell of vanilla
Now, musk and mold fill up my nostrils
These chains are tight and hold me down
But sometimes it’s nice to be held
The distance is great between my friends and I
I wonder if they call to check on me
Mother is sweet when she wants to be
Maybe I’ll ask
For now, I’ll wait
in my tiny home
Away from the world behind me
